DATE AND TIME Sun 27 December 2009 @ 5.40pm LOCATION The exact location of the UFO sighting is unknown but the witness stated that he was at home in Darwen, Lancashire.
DETAILS The witness was sat in his living room when his wife noticed the object through the window. The witness opened the window to check for noise but none was apparent. The UFO was as bright as a streetlight, was candle flame yellow and was the size of a golf ball at arms length. It seemed to flicker extremely brightly like a aircraft on fire.The UFO was low in the sky and was visible for about 2 minutes. CASEWORK AND STATUS The witness completed an online report form on 29 December 2009 and was contacted by LAPIS shortly afterwards. The weather conditions on the night in question in the Darwen area were light cloud, cold with light winds. The UFO made no strange movements nor acted in any unusual manner. There were no obvious physical effects on the witnesses. In view of the available evidence i.e. the colour of the object, the weather conditions and the lack of unusual motion or action by the UFO, our conclusion is... Case Closed - Probable Identification (Lantern).
